How GlobalOutageMap works

We answer one question as quickly and honestly as possible: is this service having problems right now? Here is where our information comes from and what it does, and does not, mean.

Where our information comes from

  • Official status sources, what providers publish about their own services.
  • Automated availability monitoring, our own checks on whether a service is reachable.
  • Community signals, reports from visitors who notice something is broken.

Statuses are updated as new signals arrive. Each incident page shows which sources it is based on.

What the statuses mean

Operational

No known issues. Everything looks normal.

Degraded

Something is slower, partially broken or unavailable for some users.

Down

The service is unavailable for most or all users.

Maintenance

Planned work announced by the provider.

Unknown

We currently have no reliable signal, so we do not claim a status.

Automated monitoring is not an official confirmation

Our automated checks tell you whether a service looks reachable from the outside. That is useful early evidence, but it is not the same as the provider confirming an incident. When both exist, we show them side by side so you can judge for yourself.

Best effort, not a guarantee

Information here is best effort. Sources can be delayed, incomplete or occasionally wrong, and some providers publish very little. For decisions that matter, always cross-check the provider’s own channel.

Something wrong? Tell us

Use the report link on any incident or provider page, or email [email protected]. We review every correction.

Frequently asked questions

Where does GlobalOutageMap get its information?
From official provider status sources, our own automated availability monitoring, and signals reported by visitors. Every incident shows where the information came from.
How current is the information?
Statuses are updated as new signals arrive. Most changes appear within minutes, but some sources publish updates slowly.
Is automated monitoring the same as an official confirmation?
No. Automated monitoring shows whether a service looks reachable from our side. Only the provider can confirm an incident officially.
Something on the site is wrong. How do I report it?
Use the report link on the incident or provider page, or email [email protected]. We review every report.
