Elevated 401 errors

ResolvedminorOfficial source confirmedFirst recorded update Oct 2, 2023, 11:10 PM · Resolved Oct 2, 2023, 11:10 PM

We started ramping mandatory two-step verification from 10/2/2023 to 10/23/2023 which inadvertently removed third party applications from the members profile settings; revoking three legged OAuth tokens for the member. Developers may have seen an increase in 401 REVOKED_ACCESS_TOKEN errors during this time. We have since paused this ramp. Members who enabled two-step verification during this time will need to re-authenticate in any third party application.

What to do next

  • Verify your own services recovered cleanly. Some upstream outages leave queues or caches in a degraded state, run smoke tests before declaring green internally.
  • Save the post-mortem. Vendors usually publish a detailed RCA 1-3 days later. We'll add it to this page when it appears.
  • Watch the provider going forward. Follow LinkedIn's status feed →

GlobalOutageMap aggregates publicly reported signals. We never claim authoritative status, always cross-check the provider's official channel before making business decisions.
