On September 21, 2026, starting at approximately 16:10 UTC, Akamai observed degraded DNS resolution performance affecting a subset of Linode instances within the London \(`LON1`\) region. Platform-wide DNS resolution remained functional, and no other regions were affected. The disruption occurred during a drive transplant of a compute host at the London \(lon1\) data center, which temporarily took a customer-facing DNS resolver offline. Due to a software logic flaw, customer workload configurations deployed in the last year across the region were disproportionately reliant on this single reso

What to do next
- Verify your own services recovered cleanly. Some upstream outages leave queues or caches in a degraded state, run smoke tests before declaring green internally.
- Save the post-mortem. Vendors usually publish a detailed RCA 1-3 days later. We'll add it to this page when it appears.
- Watch the provider going forward. Follow Linode's status feed →
GlobalOutageMap aggregates publicly reported signals. We never claim authoritative status, always cross-check the provider's official channel before making business decisions.
