    Payments Disruption

We are experiencing an issue with a small number of payments. Some sellers in Australia and the United Kingdom are experiencing declined transactions when buyers attempt to pay with US-issued Visa cards via card-not-present methods (online or manually keyed transactions). As a workaround, sellers can advise buyers to try another card, tap or dip a physical card, or use a mobile wallet. Your business operations are our top priority and our Engineering team is working rapidly to resolve this issue. We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue.

What to do next

  • Verify your own services recovered cleanly. Some upstream outages leave queues or caches in a degraded state, run smoke tests before declaring green internally.
  • Save the post-mortem. Vendors usually publish a detailed RCA 1-3 days later. We'll add it to this page when it appears.
  • Watch the provider going forward. Follow Square's status feed →

GlobalOutageMap aggregates publicly reported signals. We never claim authoritative status, always cross-check the provider's official channel before making business decisions.
